SEPTEMBER 1, Saturday 9 A.M.                   KAYAK PADDLE AND MOVEABLE FEAST

Explore the western and northern shores of Three Mile Harbor, including Hands Creek and Sammy’s Beach, then stop at Joy and Richard’s for coffee and….Meet at the dead end of Island Rd in the  Hampton Waters section of EH, off Springy Banks via Three Mile Harbor Rd.

BYO boat or call for delivered rental ().  Life vests are required.

SEPTEMBER 1, Saturday 10 A.M.                 OCEAN VIEW TRAIL (3 miles)

This lovely, somewhat hilly trail takes us through an oak forest past the tranquil Fresh Pond in Hither Woods.  Meet at Hither Hills West Overlook on Rt 27, about 1 mile east of the Old Montauk Highway fork.  Leader: Eva Moore           

 

SEPTEMBER 5, Wednesday 10 A.M.             GRACE ESTATE/CEDAR POINT PARK (4 miles)
This moderately-paced walk on flat terrain in Northwest will provide interesting views of a number of interconnected bodies of water.  Meet at the schoolhouse plaque on Northwest Rd about 3/10 of a mile from the intersection with Alewive Brook Rd.    Leader: Richard Lupoletti
 

SEPTEMBER 8, Saturday 10 A.M.                  MONK’S PLACE   (4 miles)

This easy 4-miler (some beach walking) has the best water views in the Northwest, including the Cedar Point Lighthouse, Barcelona Neck, Sag Harbor, and Shelter Island.  Meet at the end of Mile Mill Rd, off Old Northwest Rd in East Hampton.  Leader: Gene Makl

SEPTEMBER 8, SATURDAY 9:20 A.M         . SPECIAL BIKE TOUR OF BLOCK ISLAND

This visit to Block Island will include stops at natural landmarks as well as historic sites.  You are responsible for round trip fares, parking charges, and a possible dinner at Gosmans at day’s end.  Ferry reservations are necessary (VikingFerry.com or ).  There is a  Hampton Jitney that will take you directly from Manhattan to the Viking Ferry Terminal in Montauk, inclusive with bikes and a return to Manhattan.  Please speak with us over Labor Day weekend or in NYC several days before September 8th.  Ferry returns to Montauk at 5 P.M.  Leaders: Jerry Brown and Lois Peltz or

 

SEPTEMBER 12, Wednesday 10 A.M.          “FROM HERE TO ETERNITY” (4.5 to 5 miles)

Walking east along the Paumanok Path we will circle to the north side of Fresh Pond, then head north to waterfence on Napeague Bay, and, going west along the beach behind the primary dune, to Goff Point and the backside of the Walking Dunes.  Meet on Napeague Harbor Rd, 1/3 mile north of Montauk Hwy (Rte 27).  Leader: Nick Stephens

 

SEPTEMBER 15, Saturday 10 A.M.               ROCKY POINT PLUS (3-4 miles)

One of the best hikes in Montauk.  The route goes from Navy Road to Rocky Point onto the Paumanok Path and beyond. Meet at the end of Navy Rd. Directions: Take Rt 27 east to Second House Rd. Go north (left turn) about 1 mile.  Cross the LIRR tracks and make a left onto Navy Rd; follow road to the end. Leader: Ed Porco 

 

SEPTEMBER 19,  Wednesday 10 A.M.         AMAGANSETT FRESH POND (3-4 miles)

The leaders will point out several historic sites along this scenic trail.  The hike will include some road walking, and, if weather permits, a beach walk along the bay.  Hikers may have to remove shoes to cross a small inlet at the end of the hike.  Meet at the parking lot at the end of Fresh Pond Road in Amagansett.  Leaders: Valerie King and David Jones

 

SEPTEMBER 22, Saturday 10 A.M.              NORTHWEST DELIGHTS (5-6 miles) 

The leaders invite us to explore some of their favorite woodland paths and beaches. Moderate to fast pace.  Bring refreshing drinks and trail snacks.  Meet at the schoolhouse plaque on Northwest Rd, about 3/10 of a mile from the intersection with Alvewive Brook Rd in EH. Leaders: Nick Bryan and Jeri Wellman 

                 

SEPTEMBER 26,  Wednesday 10 A.M.         EAST HAMPTON VILLAGE (3 miles)

This walk begins at the Nature Preserve on David’s Lane just west of the intersection with Egypt Lane.  We will walk past the Maidstone Club and along a stretch of ocean beach and through the Nature Preserve. Leader: Melanie Ross 

 

SEPTEMBER 29, Saturday  8 A.M.               EARLY BIRD EXERCISE HIKE (3-4 miles)

Early risers will meet on Abrahams Path in western Amagansett (about 2/10 mile north of the intersection with Town Lane in EH for a moderately fast-paced workout through a lush beech forest. Leader: Ethel Pulaski 

 

SEPTEMBER 29, Saturday 9 A.M.               LONGSHANKS HIKE #3 (8 miles) 

Starting at Camp Hero Rd, this hike will take us along the Point Woods trail to Turtle Cove, then on to Money Pond and the Seal Haulout Trail.  From there we proceed along the beach to Oyster Pond and along the road trail to Theodore Roosevelt County Park, to the Ogden’s Brook Trail, and back to Camp Hero Rd.  Bring plenty of food and liquids.

SEPTEMBER 29, Saturday 10 A.M.             QUAIL HILL FARM (2-3 miles)

Bring the kids on this stroll through the Amagansett community farm. We will see crops of vegetables in season, visit the chicken house, observe activity (from a distance) at the beehives, and discover other wonders of a working farm.  Meet  in the parking area on Deep Lane, off Side of the Hill Road (via Stony Hill Rd).  Leader: Nick Stephens 

 

The next meeting will be held on Monday, October 1st, at 7:30 PM in Ashawagh Hall.
We urge you to attend to vote on the By Laws amendment .
NOTE: There is no meeting in September
