AUGUST 1, Wednesday 9 A.M.          BUCKSKILL AIRPORT  LOOP (4 miles)            Within sight  or sound of some major infrastructure (airport, recreation complex, rifle range) you can still find beautiful tranquility on an easy (flat) trail in the western end of town.  Meet on Wainscott-Northwest Rd (Daniel‘s Hole Rd) just north of the airport where the overhead power line crosses the road. AUGUST 4, Saturday 9 A.M.         LONGPOND GREENBELT   (3 OR 5 miles)                Hikers can choose between a shorter or longer trek through the popular Greenbelt trail in Sag Harbor.  Woods, wetlands, and interconnected  ponds, flat terrain.  Meet at the entrance to Mashashimuet Park in Sag Harbor.  Leader: Jill Barber

AUGUST 8, Wednesday 9 A.M.                     RALPH’S LANDING  (2 miles)

Good things still come in small packages. This easy 2 miler (some beach walking) has the best water views in the Northwest, including the Cedar Point Lighthouse, Barcelona Neck, Sag Harbor and Shelter Island.  Meet at the water end of Mile Hill Road, off Old Northwest Road in East Hampton .  Leader: Gene Makl

AUGUST 11,Saturday 9 A.M.          STEPHEN TALKHOUSE PATH  (4-5 Miles) Stephen Talkhouse was proclaimed the world’s greatest walker;he was said to have walked from Montauk to Brooklyn in one day.  Join us on this somewhat hilly path named in his honor. Meet at the Hither Hills Overlook off Route 27,  one mile east  of the Montauk Highway/Old Montauk Highway split. Leader: Lee Dion

AUGUST 11, Saturday 6-9 P.M.    BEACH PICNIC, INDIAN WELLS BEACH              BYO  PICNIC AND A GOODIE FOR THE DESSERT TABLE.  RAIN DATE: AUGUST 18

AUGUST 15, Wednesday 9 A.M.       SHADMOOR STATE PARK (2.5 miles)   This spectacular hike includes a newly cut woodsy trail, close-up views of WW II bunkers, and one of the most awesome views on the East End along the dramatic Montauk bluffs. Portions of the trail can be muddy after a rain; wear proper footgear. Meet at the Shadmoor parking lot on the south side of Rt. 27, about one quarter mile past Montauk center.  A large sign marks the entrance.  Leader: Eva Moore   

AUGUST 18, Saturday 9 A.M.   HISTORIC MONTAUK BIKE TRIP  (20 miles)      This leisurely ride will take us through the less known neighborhoods of Montauk that give this seaside village its special flavor.  Meet at the parking area adjacent to the Montauk Library (on Route 27 one quarter mile east of town).  Leader: Burton Greenhouse

 AUGUST 18, Saturday 9A.M.   POETRY HIKE AT SAMMYS BEACH (3 miles)      We will stop twice on this shore hike for poetry readings.  BYOP (bring your own poem) written by you or someone else.  Or just come along to enjoy the scene. Meet at the end of Sammy?s Beach Road (a right turn off Old House Landing Road) via Alewive Brook Rd.   Leaders:  Steve and Laurie Adler

AUGUST 22,  Wednesday 9 A.M.     NORTHWEST EXPLORATION (4 miles)         Enjoy over 1000 acres of p reserved town and county woodland; much of it was when the Northwest was a thriving community three hundred years ago.  Meet at the school house plaque at the sharp curve on the northern end of Northwest Road in East Hampton.        Leader: Gene Makl

AUGUST 25, Saturday 9 A.M. SPRINGS HIKE AND MOVABLE FEAST (2 miles) Hikers will explore local trails in the Springs Woodblock area.  We will return to the home of Mitzi and Perry Pazer for post-hike refreshments.  Meet at 130 Talmadge Farm Lane off Springs Fireplace, about .one half mile past the intersection of Old Stone Highway (Ashawagh Hall) on the left.  Leader: Gene Makl

AUGUST 25, Saturday 9 A.M.  ACCABONAC HARBOR KAYAK PADDLE         Join an “old salt” and Accabonac Harbor watcher on a tour of this historic inlet.  BYO boat or call Mike Bottini () for a delivered rental. Life vests are required. Meet at the end of Landing Lane, of Old Stone Hwy about half mile east of Springs General Store.              Leader: Ray Hartjen

AUGUST 29, Wednesday 9 A.M.      JACOB’S FARM/ STONY HILL (4 miles)   One of many new loops in Stony Hill makes for an interesting contrast with Jacob’s Farm. Meet on Red Dirt Road across from Jacob’s Farm entrance, about a quarter mile past of Accabonac Rd.  Leader: Jim Zajac
