July 1, Saturday   9 A.M.                            OLD WEST LAKE TO INDIAN FIELDS (4 miles)

From the sublime to the ridiculous, these two sections of the Paumanok Path are like night and day; prepare to be blown away by two of the most spectacular water views in East Hampton Town. Long pants, socks, and insect repellent are strongly advised.  Meet at the intersection of Route 27 and Old West Lake Dr (not West Lake Dr) in Montauk.

July 1, Saturday   8 P.M.                            SUNSET HIKE AND FIREWORKS (2 miles)

Here is a rare opportunity to learn about the great diversity of the Walking Dunes, see a stunning sunset, and then watch the Devon Yacht Club’s fireworks display.  Bring a flashlight, insect repellent, and celebratory refreshments of your choice.  This hike is not suitable for young children.  Meet at the end of Napeague Harbor Rd off Rte. 27 in Napeague.

July 5, Wednesday   9 A.M                                MONTAUK’S SECRET TRAIL (4 miles)

We will walk 2 miles along the seldom-traveled fern-lined Right of Way Trail in Montauk to a quiet lake beach where refreshing drinks will be served before making the return trek.   Meet at Montauk Library Parking lot on the east side of town.

July 8, Saturday   9 A.M                    SPRINGS HIKE AND MOVEABLE FEAST (2 miles)                               

Hikers will explore local trails in the Springs Woodblock area.  We will return to the home of Mitzi and Perry Pazer for post-hike refreshments by the pool.  Meet near the Pazer’s house at 130 Talmadge Farm Lane off Springs Fireplace, about ½ mile past the intersection of Old Stone Highway (Ashawagh Hall) on the left.   Leader: Gene Makl 

 

July 8, Saturday   9 A.M.                                                      BIKE RIDE TO GREENPORT

On this leisurely cycling sojourn we will bike through Shelter Island via back roads to North Ferry and cross over to Greenport for a visit with a financer-turned-oyster farmer.  Meet at South Ferry in North Haven at 9 A.M.    Leaders: Lois Peltz and Jerry Brown 

 

July 12, Wednesday 9 A.M.                                         EAST END SAMPLER (4-5 easy miles)         

 Combine the Grace Estate, Grassy Hollow and the views from Northwest Harbor and you have the perfect East End hike.  Meet at intersection of Hands Creek Road and Van Scoy's Path-West in East Hampton.

July 15, Saturday 9 A.M.                        CEDAR POINT TO GRACE ESTATE (4-5 miles)   

A trek across the terminal moraine and some outstanding water views are featured on this hike through Cedar Point Park and a corner of the Grace Estate.   Meet at Northwest Harbor   at the end of Alewive Brook Road. Insect repellent is strongly advised.

July 15, Saturday   1 P.M.               CEDAR POINT PARK  KAYAK/CANOE PADDLE

From the shores of Northwest Harbor, up Alewive Book to Alewive Pond.   BYO boat or call Mike Bottini () for a delivered rental.   Life vests are required.   Meet at the end of Alewive Brook Road in Northwest. Leaders:   Steve and Laurie Tamber

     

July 19, Wednesday  9 A.M.              THEODORE ROOSEVELT COUNTY PARK (2 miles)

Some outstanding water views are featured on this short but somewhat hilly walk from Third House to Corner Gate in this scenic Montauk County Park. Insect repellent advised. Meet at Third House in the park, off Route 27 about 3/10 of a mile east of East Lake Drive.

July 22,  Saturday  9 A.M.                                          QUAIL HILL FARM  (2-3 miles)

On this stroll through the Amagansett community farm, we will see crops of lettuce, beans, and other vegetables and herbs; visit the chicken house and the beehive; amble through Bayberry Tree Farm; and pick raspberries and blackberries. Meet in the parking area on Deep Lane, off Side of the Hill Road (left turn off Stony Hill Rd in Amagansett). Great for children age 5 and up.

July 26, Wednesday 9 A.M.                               NORTHWEST DELIGHTS (4 + miles)

The leaders invite us to explore some of their favorite woodland paths and beaches.   Bring refreshing drinks and trail snacks.   Meet at the schoolhouse plaque on Northwest Rd, about 3/10 of a mile from the intersection with Alewive Brook Rd in East Hampton.

July 29, Saturday   9 A.M.                          POINT WOODS AND CAMP HERO (4 miles)

Begin your weekend with this inspiring hike through scenic Point Woods and history-rich Camp Hero.   Meet at Camp Hero Rd, off Route 27 about 1 mile east of Deep Hollow Ranch in Montauk.

July 29, Saturday   10 A.M.                   ACCABONAC HARBOR KAYAK/ CANOE OUTING

Join an “old salt” and Accabonac Harbor watcher on   a tour of this historic inlet.   BYO boat or call Mike Bottini () for a delivered rental. Life vests are required.   Meet at the end of Landing Lane, off Old Stone Highway about ½ mile east of Springs General Store.
