January 1, Wednesday, 10AM: New Years Day Hike (10-12+miles)
Rigorous hike in the deep winter beauty of one of Long Island's largest and most secluded natural areas, Montauk's Hither Woods.  We will hike through rolling woods of oak and mountain laurel to a wild and beautiful coastline.  Hikers should bring food, snacks and liquids.  Be prepared to finish at dusk or later! Hike is NOT canceled by snow, wind or rain.  Meet at Montauk Recycling Center, north side of Rt. 27, two miles east of the Hither Hills Overlook parking area.

Leader: Rick Whalen

January 4, Saturday, 10AM: Waterfence (5-6 miles)
This stunning hike takes us on the Serpent's Back trail and along the shore to the Waterfence overlooking Napeague Bay.  Meet at Hither Hills Overlook parking lot off Rt. 27, about 1 mile east of Montauk Highway and Old Montauk Highway split, in Montauk.

Leader: Ed Porco

January 8, Wednesday, 10AM: Shadmoor (2 + miles).
We walk near the ocean and the hoodoos on this short but lovely hike.  Meet at the new parking lot to Shadmoor about ½ mile east of the Montauk library on the south side of Route 27.

Leader: Joan Porco

January 11, Saturday, 10AM: Mile High Hike (3 miles)
This diverse hike will take us through the Grace Estate to the Northwest Harbor then on to a short beach walk.  Meet at the Schoolhouse Plaque on Northwest Rd. about ¼ mile from the intersection with Alewive Brook Rd. in East Hampton's Northwest.
Leader:  Bill Nicholas

January 12, Sunday, 1PM: Seal Haul-out  (2.5 miles)
If conditions are right, we will observe these interesting creatures sunning themselves on the rocks.  Dress warmly against the Block Island Sound winds for this round trip walk through a Maritime forest.  Meet at Camp Hero Rd., a right turn off Rt. 27, about a mile east of Deep Hollow Ranch in Montauk.  Remember to bring binoculars.
Leaders: Rosemarie DeSantis  7 and Dottie Goldfarb

January 15, Wednesday, 10AM: Cedar Point Park (3 miles).
This is one of the hike leader's favorite hikes.  Meet in the park, off Alewife Brook Rd., in the Northwest section of East Hampton. Continue to the parking area, next to the pavilion across from the campgrounds.

Leader: Gene Makl

January 18, Saturday, 10AM: Camp Hero (3 miles)
This hike will take place in the former military base Camp Hero, now known as Camp Hero State Park.  We will meet at the end of Camp Hero Rd., right turn off Rt. 27, about one mile east of Deep Hollow Ranch, in Montauk.

Leader: Richard Lupoletti

January 22, Wednesday, 10AM: The Other Barcelona (3-4 miles)
Avoiding the golf course we will skirt the eastern edge of this NYS preserve and get some grand views of Northwest Creek, once a premier East End shell fishing area.  Meet at the intersection of Rt. 114 and Swamp Rd. in the Northwest section of East Hampton.

Leader: Richard Lupoletti

January 25, Saturday, 10AM: Miller's Ground  (4 or 8 miles)
Scale a "mountain" and visit a vernal pool on Miller's Ground on a challenging 4 mile loop, then head for home and a cozy fire, or cross the road for another, easier 4 mile loop in Buckskill.  Meet on Wainscott NW Rd. (Daniel's Hole Rd.) Where the power lines cross the road, just north of EH Airport.
Leader: Richard Lupoletti

January 29, Wednesday, 10AM: Gerard Drive (2+miles)
Enjoy a beach and road walk with views of both Gardiner's Bay and Accobonac Harbor. Meet at the first causeway on Gerard Drive.
