SCHEDULED HIKES NOVEMBER 2001
The crisp air and the bare trees offer a special type of beauty this time of the year. We will offer long and regular hikes, at various locations to enable our hikers to fully appreciate this time of year in the East End.
The December meeting of the EHTPS will be Monday, December 3 at 7:30 PM at Ashawagh Hall
Saturday, November 3, Big Reed Pond 10AM (3-4 miles)
Enjoy many beautiful water views of Big Reed Pond, including a Registered Natural Landmark. Meet at the parking area off Eastlake Drive, about 2 miles north of the intersection with Rt. 27 in Montauk.

Saturday, November 3, Paumanok Path Number Two 9AM (9 miles)
This second part of the Paumanok Path reprise features the Tanbark Creek Bridge, Peconic Land Trust farm and Stony Hill. Meet on Cranberry Hole Rd. in Amagansett. Bring water, lunch and snacks.

Wednesday, November 7, Beautiful Oyster Pond 10AM (3-4 miles)
We will travel through Theodore Roosevelt County Park, view the beautiful Oyster Pond and Block Island Sound. Meet at Third House in Theodore Roosevelt County Park in Montauk

Saturday, November 10, Miller's Ground 10AM (3 to 4 miles)
This hike over the rolling hills of Wainscott features large areas of Mountain Laurel. This somewhat hilly hike is becoming one of our favorites. It offers old, yet small oak trees and a serpentine trail to enjoy. Meet on Wainscott Northwest Road (also known as Daniel's Hole Rd.) and the Power Line Rd. north of the East Hampton airport.

Wednesday, November 14, Georgica Pond 10AM (2 miles)
Experience the ocean beach without the summer crowds. Join us for an exhilarating walk from East Hampton's Main Beach to Georgica Pond and back on the fashionable Lily Pond Lane. Meet at parking lot at Main Beach.

Saturday, November 17, Stephen Talkhouse Trail 10AM (4-5 miles)
He was proclaimed the world's greatest walker. For 25 cents he would walk 25 miles and at the age of 59 he walked from Montauk to Brooklyn in one day. Join us on the Stephen Talkhouse, somewhat hilly, Path as we visit his home in Montauk. Meet at the Hither Hills overlook off Route 27, 1/2 mile east of the Montauk Highway and the Old Montauk Highway split. Leader: Lee Dion

Friday, November 23 Waterfence Hike 10AM (5-6 miles)
This stunning hike takes us on the Serpent's Back Trail and along the shore to the Waterfence overlooking Napeague Bay. Meet at the Hither Hills overlook parking lot off Rt. 27, about 1 mile east of Montauk Highway & Old Montauk Highway split in Montauk.

Saturday, November 24, Cranberry Hole 10AM (4 miles)
We are anticipating cranberries will be on the bush. This hike will have some beach walking. Meet at the intersection of Cranberry Hole Road and Cross Highway on Amagansett.

Saturday, November 24, Hither Woods 10AM (11 miles)
Burn off those extra Thanksgiving calories by hiking on the beautiful hilly Paumanok Path, where we will enjoy stunning panoramic views. The pace will be about 2 1/2 miles per hour. Please bring water, lunch and snacks. Meet at the Montauk Recycling Center on the north side of Rt. 27, about 2 miles west of Montauk Center. Hikers unable to maintain the pace will be asked to turn back.

Wednesday, November 28 Stony Hill 10AM (3-4 miles)
This will be an exercise hike along farmland and through a beautiful beech forest. Bring water. Meet on Abrahams Path in western Amagansett about 2/10 mile north of intersection with Town Lane, in East Hampton.
