Winter hiking has become a favorite for many of our hikers. We have scheduled a variety of Montauk hikes with a sprinkling of some of the best of East Hampton's treks. We are starting our season of smaller and more intimate groups of hikers.
We wish all of our members a Happy, Healthy and Safe Holiday Season. The January meeting of the EHTPS will be Monday, January 7 at 7:30 PM at Ashawagh Hall
Saturday, December 1, Big Reed 10:00 AM (3-4 miles)
Enjoy many beautiful water views of Big Reed Pond, including a Registered Natural Landmark. Meet at the parking area off Eastlake Drive, about 2 miles north of the intersection with Rt. 27 in Montauk.

Saturday, December 1, Paumanok Path III 9:00 AM (12 1/2 miles)
This third leg of the Paumanok Path comprise features Hither Hills Woods with too many wondrous sights to list. Meet at the town parking lot across from Kirk Park in downtown Montauk. Bring water and lunch and a snack.

Wednesday, December 6, Rocky Point 10:00 AM (4-6 miles)
A variation on an interesting and pleasant Montauk hike. From Navy Road to Rocky Point onto the Paumanok Path and past Lost Boulder. Take Rt. 27 east to 2nd House Rd. Go north (left turn) about one mile. Make a left after the railroad tracks, which is Navy Rd., take to the end.

Saturday, December 8, Oyster Pond Ramble 10:00 AM (3 miles)
Thrill to four spectacular views of Oyster Pond on this pleasant ramble that also includes Cornergate, Hetty's Hole, the Ogden Brook Bridge and a smidge of Point Woods. Meet on Camp Hero Rd., just off Rt. 27 in Montauk, about a mile east of Deep Hollow Ranch.

Wednesday, December 12, Beautiful Oyster Pond 10:00 AM (3-4 miles)
We will travel through Theodore Roosevelt County Park, view the beautiful Oyster Pond and Block Island Sound. Meet at Third House in Theodore Roosevelt County Park in Montauk.

Saturday, December 15, 10:00 AM Stephen Talkhouse (4-6 miles)
He was proclaimed the world's greatest walker. For 25 cents he would walk 25 miles and at the age of 59 he walked from Montauk to Brooklyn in one day. Join us on the Stephen Talkhouse, somewhat hilly, Path as we visit his home in Montauk. Meet at the Hither Hills overlook off Route 27, 1/2 mile east of the Montauk Highway and the Old Montauk Highway split.

Saturday, December 22, Cedar Point 10:00 AM (3 miles)
Enjoy spectacular views from a cliff high above Gardiner's Bay as we walk through the serene hardwood forest of this beautiful county park. Meet in the park off Alewife Brook Rd., in the Northwest section of East Hampton. Continue to the parking area, next to the pavilion, across from the campground.

Wednesday, December 26, Lost Boulder 10:00 AM (4 miles)
Enjoy spectacular views from Panorama then visit the famous Lost Boulder on a 4-mile loop. Meet at the Montauk Recycling Center on the north side of Rt. 27 about 2 miles west of Montauk Center.

Saturday, December 29, Grace Estate 10:00 AM
A beautiful cold winter day and a hike in the woods. The combination of forest and shore will please us all. Meet at the School House Plaque on Northwest Rd, about 3/10 mile from the intersection with Alewive Brook Rd. in East Hampton's Northwest. Leader: Gene Makl
